Obama's Eleven
This week while browsing my favorite website i found clips of the south park episode on the election. The video began with Obama being elected president and in one house in the neighborhood you had all the Obama supporters who were going crazy and partying and yelling stuff like "yes we can." In the house across the street you had all the McCain supporters saying things like, "it's the end of the world" and one father says to his son "if i don't see you tomorrow i love you." South Park was deffinatly able to show what the two different sides of politics were feeling after the election. One of the main characters little brothers was crying when asked why the older brother said because he's a McCain supporter. Later in the show that same little brother tried jumping out from a window...luckily it was only 5 feet off the ground. Again it was using humor to address the way some people may have felt after Obama won his presidency. Of course on the show they had to have a silly factor and for that they showed Obama and McCain behind the scenes after the election and the show hinted towards the fact that they were working together the entire time in hopes that one or the other would deffinatly win the presidency. This would then lead to McCain and Obama stealing the hope diamond in the smithsonian museam. I thought this part was funny because it seemed like the entire election we had to pick either Obama the first african american president or McCain/Palin the first women vice president but on the show their motive was to just steal the hope diamond. Thats as far as the clips to it so this is where i stop.

Obama as Mario
The first black President ever to be elected is President Obama which happened last week. Seeing as this might stir up a lot of controversy, I decided to go online to see if i could find anything about him being elected. I came across a funny video clip that showed Obama's progress beating out every other candidate in order to become president, but the funny thing was it was Obama taking the place of Mario in the classic video game for nintendo Super Mario Bros. Obama as Mario went through the first level fighting off things that could get in his way. Instead of the normal turtles and other obstacles, replacing them were the heads of other candidates trying to get at the posistion of President. Such included Hillary Clinton, McCain, Sarah Palin and many others. Going through the level, Obama knocked out every obstacle and finally getting to the end where Mario is supposed to jump on the flag pole and go instide the castle, instead Obama jumped the flag pole and headed inside the White House, where the current President Bush left crying. I thought the video was hilarious because it showed the progress he made to get to where he is now but in a funny way.

Sarah Palin Rap
This past Saturday on SNL, Sarah Palin was on the show. During the news cast skit, the writer for the show wrote a rap for Palin to do. No one is still quite sure is the govener was supposed to do the skit or not from the beginning but Amy Poehler took on the task. In the rap, there were two eskimos that came out behind her and were the back up singers. It was hilarious. There was also a line that she said that said "My country tis of thee, from my porch i can see Russia and such." This line was obviously reffering back to the Tina Fey skit where she said the "I can see Russia from my house" which I found extremely funny. Amy also reffered to the drilling of oil, and also pretended to shoot down a moose. There was also a part where Amy said "all the mavrick's in the house put your hands up" and Sarah Palin did the "raise the roof" move which I thought was funny for her to get into it like Amy was. I think that this could possibly help her campaign with McCain for going on the show because she is trying to connect more with the younger generation.

SNL QVC
I don't know if you saw the SNL skit with McCain but if you didnt its on the barely political website. I thought McCain did a great job with Tina Fey as Sarah Palin. They started off with QVC which was one of those televised shopping shows. They joked about how Barrack Obama bought major air time on 3 major networks and they could only afford to well sell products on this shopping network. Sarah Palin goes on to say "these campaigns sure are expensive while she rubs her new blouse she is wearing which i took as a joke hitting the issue of the republican party giving money to Palin to buy clothes. In the skit they try selling plates which are blank and they symbolize the ten town hall debates between Obama and McCain. then Palin introduces the joe action figures, " Joe the plummer, joe the six pack, and joe bidden." McCain then says in refrence to the Bidden doll that its great if you want to clear out a party and Palin adds keeping elk out of your yard. They sell other things as well but i think the last part i thought was key was when Palin took the camera aside and said she was going rogue she then holds up a Palin in 2012 t-shirt on sale now but dont wear them until after tuesday. I think the humor McCain showed in the Saterday night live skit was good for him he made fun of some of his own party issues. He also threw a few quick jabs at Obama and Bidden. The politics i think benefited from the humor of TV which could only help McCains campaign at this point.

Family Guy Controversy
Over the weekend i was watching tv, and I noticed that the newest episode of family guy was on. In this episide, Stewie and Brian get sent back in time to Germany during the time of World War II. While trying to escape, they steal nazi uniforms and when they appear for the first time in them, stewie looks down at his near the swastika ahd just when audiences think he's going to react about that, instead he lifts the collar of his jacket and there is a McCain Palin button on the jacket in which he reacts "huh that's wierd." Personally I thought it was hilarious with the upcoming election because family guy is known to stick little jokes here and there with something big that is going on in the world. Apparently the media didn't think it too funny because there have been many news articles on the web saying that it is offensive and saything that the makers of family guy are implying that nazi's would have supported McCain. I don't understand why people try and blow these things way out of proportion?

Week 9 Post
At the advice of the other bloggers I decided to vistit this barelypolitical.com. It was very humorous and featured a lot of videos. One video in particular made fun of John McCain's age by showing some clips where he slipped up on some lines. The video states that he should obtain a age card that allows him to do these things without explanation. The video makes a very good point through their joke. A lot of voters are worried about John McCain's age and how it will affect his ability to run the country. Or even worse if he were to pass while in office. While poking fun it also reveals that this is in fact a real worry amongst Americans.

I was surfing the web today and I ended up on the barelypolitical.com site. They had this one video called "The Big McCain: Mark It Zero" which basically just poked fun at McCain and how he is such a "tough guy". The video took a clip from a movie and posted McCain's head over the guys body as he completely blows up at another guy who just bowled a frame in a bowling ally because his foot went over the line. One line that really made fun of McCain was when the guy said "this isn't 'nam, we have rules here" seeing as John is such a strong military supporter I thought that was crossing the line a bit, even though I found it funny. It seems as the election comes closer, more videos are being posted on the internet making fun of candidates to try and sway voters in those last few weeks.

Barely political
Seeing as our website founders believed in humor i think this website is the spitting image of what we admire. Comedy in politics and not taking things serious. I was on youtube wathcing the candidate girl olympics when afterwards this website popped up http://www.barelypolitical.com/. Pretty much the only way i'll have anything to do with politics because i'm so sick of hearing about the same old things. I highly recomend the bigfoot nessie 08 video. It pokes fun at both McCain and Obama it says McCain owns 8 homes Obama owns 1.......and bigfoot doesnt own any he lives in the woods. This video also said something funny about big feat and big shoes to fill. It also had Nessie as the running mate which come to find out is a female dinosaur they edited a clip of matt damon talking about sarah palin asking if she thought dinosaurs were around 4000 years ago then said nessie was there and shes a female. I'm thinking we might want to further pursue this website if it gets updated frequently or we could just continue with our broad topic as we discussed.
